My family's history is an awesome mixture of Indian, Caribbean, British and South American. I can see glimpses of each culture in day to day life but it's most apparent when it comes to our food!
Here is a simple recipe that has the classic Indian favor, but is also healthy! It's a great alternative to chicken breast when you are looking to vary your meal prep. I enjoy that it has a savory taste and is a great source of protein!
1 lb of ground turkey
1/2 of a purple cabbage
8 to 10 cloves of garlic
2-3 cherry pepper OR use your favorite chili pepper
½ cup of onions
1 tablespoons of olive oil
2 teaspoons of masala
4 teaspoons of tomato paste
6-8 shakes of Mrs. Dash
pinch of salt
Before you Start…
Thaw the ground turkey completely if necessary.
Chop the garlic, onions and cabbage.
Using a non-stick pan heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Once hot add the chopped onion, garlic and cherry pepper (Or your favorite pepper). Allow the garlic to brown. This should take from 2 to 5 minutes.
Once the garlic has browned add the 1 teaspoon of masala and 2 teaspoons of tomato paste and stir to mix. Now add the ground turkey. Allow to brown for 10 to 15 minutes or until fully cooked.
